Marwa Al Aqroubi is a one of the most prominent and influential figures in the children’s literature industry in the UAE. She is president of the UAE Board on Books for Young People (UAEBBY) Executive Board, the UAE branch of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY). In 2017 she was appointed to be a member of the IBBY Foundation by the IBBY Executive Committee.

Her initiatives include Read Dream Centre, a campaign to instill a love of books in children, and Kan Yama Kan, an initiative to provide quality storybooks to underprivileged children worldwide. She is a key influencer behind the prestigious Etisalat Award for Arabic Children’s Literature, which aims to put Arabic children’s books on the international stage.

She is the author of Ahmed El Helo (Adorable Ahmad), a story about a journey undertaken to rediscover the culture and heritage of the UAE.
