Samar Mahfouz Barraj is a Lebanese writer, poet, playwright, songwriter and translator of children’s books. She also works for educational publishers.
Her first book, I Didn’t Mean It, was published in 2007 and she has since gone on to publish over 60 books including Sleeping is So Good, which was listed on the 2014 IBBY honour list, and Red Line, which won the Kitabi Arabic Children’s Book Prize in 2015. Her books have been shortlisted for the Etisalat Award for Arabic Children’s Literature and two of her books were long-listed for the Sheikh Zayed Book Award.
Barraj holds workshops on writing and training, for both children and adults.
She is married and has two daughters.
