Hi, I’m Lina LitFest, the new mascot for the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature. If you’ve ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at your favourite literature festival, look no further!
Lina: What exactly do you do?!
I am the Program Manager at DIWC and Arabic Program Manager at the Festival
Lina: What’s a typical day for you?
There is no typical day for me; but most of the days involves working on generating programs which require research, communicating with writers to discuss the event and to agree on what is the best program that we can offer.
Involves reading and searching for writers from all kinds of work in both Arabic and English and
Also part of my work is to attend literature events to know more about what is happening in the literature world in general which help me build a good sold programs
Lina: Who are you most looking forward to seeing at #EAFOL16?
The authors I’m most looking forward to seeing are Mohammed Hasan Alwan, Saud Alsanousi. And Lulwah Almansouri, who is giving a session about how to choose the right place and time for a novel. That too would also be interesting to go to because she writes fantasy novels based on real places.
Lina: Tell me about your favourite book.
I think Migration by Mohammed Hassan Alwan. I’m reading it now!
Lina: If you could be any character in a book, who would you be?
I like Mamma Hissa, a character from Saud Alsanousi’s Mama Hissa’s Mice because in the story she holds everyone together.
