Hi, I’m Lina LitFest, the new mascot for the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature. If you’ve ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at your favourite literature festival, look no further!
Lina: What exactly do you do?
I coordinate with Lucy in terms of managing DIWC events, making sure that things get done according to plan and team expectations. I also serve as a receptionist so I do help out in managing the office, getting book orders, assisting guests/ authors, arranging hotel bookings and other logistical matters.
Lina: What’s a typical day for you?
It is mainly office work and organising our sessions. If an author or a guest needs something, I sort out the arrangements. I also have evening duties.
Lina: Who are you most looking forward to seeing at #EAFOL16?
I’m a diehard fan of Darren Shan and would love to meet him in person! I’m waiting for Stephen King to come as well at some point, although there’s no chance he’ll come this year. I’m also quite into health books and I’d really like to see Joe Wicks.
Lina: Tell me about your favourite book.
Everything’s eventual by Steven King. It’s a thriller and I’ve actually read it twice!
Lina: If you could be any character in a book, who would you be?
A villain! Although if I could be a superhero, I’d be Superman… Always… Except for the kryptonite thing – I hate that! But it would always be Superman!
