Hi, I’m Lina LitFest, the new mascot for the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature. If you’ve ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at your favourite literature festival, look no further!
Lina: What exactly does a PR Consultant do?
I’m a journalist and a PR Consultant… apparently!
I basically build relationships and create strategies to bring organisations and their target audiences together. That may be between a brand and the public or company directors with key industry influencers. Raising profiles and creating a positive image is the name of the game. Crisis management can also play a part, but fingers crossed, not too much of a part!
Lina: What’s a typical day for you?
Um, so the first 2 hours of personal emails you don’t want to hear about! But the first thing I do is check my emails. Then I normally have meetings with my clients if I can, either on the phone or in person. I write a fair amount, so I may work on a feature, a Q&A or a press release to the media to let them know the latest news about my clients. I also co-ordinate with them to see if we have any coverage from any previous events or news we have offered.
Lina: Who are you most looking forward to seeing at #EAFOL16?
Um, that’s difficult. I think Antony Horowitz probably. Just because he’s such an interesting character and I think it’d be really interesting to see him in the flesh!
Lina: Tell me about your favourite book.
A book called Ludmila’s Broken English by DBC Pierre. I haven’t read anything like it before. It’s very much a fantasy story with every emotion from jealousy and love to hatred and murder. It’s totally surreal and difficult to put into words. It was recommended by my dad and it’s a book that really stays with you. It’s extremely funny, hilarious actually, and it’s beautifully written.
Lina: If you could be any character in a book, who would you be?
Um, that’s impossible! I think it would have to be a James Bond character or something like that! I should say Mr Rochester or something but no I’ll stick with James Bond!
