Hi, I’m Lina LitFest, the new mascot for the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature. If you’ve ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at your favourite literature festival, look no further!
My main role is to support Isobel as Festival Director and make sure the LitFest actually happens! – which means bringing together the work of each department. I am also in charge of the Children’s Programme and work with the Education team very closely.
Lina: What’s a typical day for you?
There is no typical day for me. I arrive at the office and everything I think I’m going to do doesn’t happen and things I wouldn’t dream of doing happen!
Lina: Who are you most looking forward to seeing at #EAFOL16?
That’s a tricky one. Personally I’m most looking forward to meeting Jaqueline Wilson again. In terms of which event I think will be most inspiring, it would have to be the Steven Berkoff, Shakespeare.
Lina: Tell me about your favourite book.
Um, all-time favourite book… It would have to be one from my childhood. It’s so difficult, it’s a toss-up between two… I’m actually going to go for The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
Lina: If you could be any character in a book, who would you be?
Oh, that’s a lovely question! I would be Mary from The Secret Garden.
