Question Time with Maitha Al Khayat

Maitha-Al-KhayatQ. Which other EAFOL 2016 participant are you most excited about?

Definitely Chris Haughton – his illustrations are sensational. Such a talented author and illustrator and it would be great to learn from him.

Q. Which book(s) are you reading now?

I’m reading two books at the same time: both are Arabic. I’m not sure if I can translate their titles properly but they are: Mama Hissa’s Mice by Saud AlSanousi and Memory of the Body by Ahlam Mostaghanemi.

Q. Which literary character would you invite to dinner? And why?

That would be Peter Pan. We have something in common. Both of us never want to grow old. Plus, I would really love to fly after dessert, maybe he could help me…

Q. There have been some interesting additions to the dictionary over the years. Which word would you remove?

“OMG”… it just gets on my nerves, it feels like someone is choking when saying those letters instead of actually feeling thrilled or amazed.

Q. Who would write/ illustrate the story of your life?

I would choose Oliver Jeffers. I like his way of interpreting stories either by writing or illustrations. I’m sure he’ll make the story of my life fabulous, especially for kids.
