Thursday March 8th is International Women’s Day, and to celebrate we have gathered a panel of top writers to discuss the global movement for gender equality.Hatoon Ajwad Al Fassi is a Saudi historian and outspoken advocate for women’s rights; her most recent book looks at the prominent role women played in the Nabatean civilisation.Kamila Shamsie is an award-winning novelist whose Home Fire was longlisted for the 2017 Man Booker Prize. She is in the fourth generation of women writers in her family. Dr Rafia Ghubash is a trailblazer in UAE society: President of the Arab Network for Women in Science and Technology and today, Founder of The Women’s Museum in Dubai and author of the forthcoming Encyclopedia of Emirati Women.Cheryl Strayed is the author of the acclaimed memoir Wild, and is a champion of female empowerment through mentoring and advocacy.This panel is moderated by Jenni Murray.Language: English with Arabic translation
