Youssef Rakha writes about Cairo, its people and culture in a unique voice that combines humour, poetry and historical insight. In The Book of the Sultan’s Seal, Mustafa Corbac goes on a journey to find himself and discovers the Ottoman Sultan’s seal on Cairo’s streets; while the novels The Crocodile and Paulo look at the events in Tahrir Square and the culture surrounding the protests. Youssef is a novelist, poet and literary critic, and his books have been translated to English and many other languages.
