Emirates Airline Capture 380 Competition Boosts Emirates Airline Festival of Literature Efforts for Year of Reading
Dubai, 11 March, 2016: Words and pictures combined to bring two lucky winners the gift of world travel at the inaugural Emirates Airline Capture 380 competition. The competition, created in partnership with Emirates Airline, came to a close today at a grand ceremony at the 2016 Emirates Airline Festival of Literature. The winners of the competition were awarded four Economy Class tickets each for a flight to any Emirates A380 destination in the world.
Participants were asked to capture an image related to the Festival theme ‘Time’ and write a caption no longer than 380 words. The panel of judges included Boutros Boutros, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, Marketing & Brand, Paul Griffiths, CEO, Dubai Airports, Jonathan Lloyd, Chairman of Curtis Brown and Isobel Abulhoul, CEO and Trustee of the Emirates Literature Foundation and Festival Director of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature.
Capture 380 is one of two new competitions started by the Festival and its partners with an aim to promote a reading habit in the UAE. The Festival’s competitions are a part of the nationwide initiatives launched by various entities in 2016, declared by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as the Year of Reading.
Dina Al Herais, Vice President Commercial, VIP Customer Relations said, ‘The combination of words and images has taken us to so many places. As part of the judging panel I can testify to the originality of the concepts and the creativity of not only the photographs but also the captions. Selecting the eventual winners was a much harder task than any of us imagined. We are really looking forward to continuing our efforts to encourage a reading and creative culture in the region.’
