Wafa’ Tarnowska divides her life between Europe and the Middle East as a writer, translator and story teller. She considers herself a bridge between East and West and has opened a window onto the Arab world with a magnificent retelling of eight stories from the Arabian Nights.
Her Arabian Nights has been translated into Arabic, French, Korean, Dutch, Portuguese, and Spanish and has won the American Folklore Society Aesop Accolade, the Moonbeam Award Gold Medal and the Smithsonian Magazine Notable Book for Children in 2011.
Wafa’ also translates plays from Arabic to English as well as subtitles for TV documentaries. Her latest translated play from Syrian Arabic, Your Love is Fire, was shown in August 2017 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
